JAMES ROBERT NEWSOME 

   NEWSOMS - James Robert Newsome, 53, died in his home here Friday morning.

   A lifelong resident of Newsoms, he was the husband of Mrs. Bessie Story 
Newsome and a son of the late Samuel and Mrs. Maggie Ferguson Newsome of 
Southampton County.

   Besides his widow, surviving is a brother, Garnette Newsome of Portsmouth.

   A funeral service was held in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home Sunday at 
2:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. Mallary Binns of Newsoms Baptist Church and the Rev. 
L.F. Smith of Moyock, N.C. Baptist Church.  Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Hersey Bradshaw, Charlie Mack, Julian Carter, George 
Whitley, Fred Worrell, Hurley Pope, James O'berry and Aubrey Lee.
