He was a native of Gates Co., N.C. He was the son of R.W. and Mrs. Iola Russell Nixon, and the husband of Mrs. Ann Marks Nixon. He was a shift supervisor for Hercules Company and was a member of Sebrell United Methodist Church, the Sebrell Ruritan Club, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Besides his wife and parents he is survived by two sons, Charles Nixon and Tim Nixon of the home; one sister, Mrs. Walter Franklin Drake of Handsom, Va.; and two brothers, Phillip D. Nixon of Franklin and R.W. Nixon, Jr. of Courtland, Va. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Riverside Cemetery in Courtland by the Rev. Roger Coffey and Rev. Paul W. Swartz, with the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., in charge. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Courtland Volunteer Rescue Squad.
