Newsom died Wednesday night in Emporia. He was the husband of Mrs. Margaret French Newsom and a son of Thomas David and Mrs. Clara Copes Newsom. A native of Southampton County, he had lived in Portsmouth for 45 years. He was [?? retired from the Norfolk] and Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Sarah N. Murfee of Drewryville and Miss Annie C. Newsom of Emporia.
