All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ INDIANA BRITT NORFLEET Mrs. Indiana Britt Norfleet, 75, widow of the late William Henry Norfleet, died Monday night, January 12, at her home on South Main Street, after an illness of several months. She was born in Hertford County, N.C., a daughter of the late John and Mrs. Agnes Pond Britt, but she had resided in Franklin for the past 50 years. Mrs. Norfleet was a loyal, faithful member of High Street Methodist Church, attending its services regularly woman of many Christian qualities, a true neighbor and friend. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Carley Whitfield of Norfolk and Miss Dora Norfleet of Franklin; a son John D. Norfleet of Franklin; a sister, Miss Ida Britt, also of Franklin; two grandchildren, R.L. Whitfield, Jr., and Linda Whitfield of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Norfleet were conducted by her pastor, Rev. E.W. Aaron, at the funeral home of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. A solo, "It Is Well With My Soul," was rendered by Joel Cook Holland, this selection being one of her favorites. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being Joseph Fowler, Sam Powell, J.J. Magee, Jr., Bruce Rose, Merritt Jordan, J.J. Magee, Sr., Irvin Whitley and Roy Turner. The many floral tributes attested to the high esteem with which Mrs. Norfleet was regarded. Indiana (BRITT; Mrs. William H.) NORFLEET, b.
