JENNIE NORFLEET, 83, DIES IN FLORIDA Friends and relatives here have received new of the death of Mrs. Jennie S. Norfleet at the home of her son, J.H. Norfleet, in Gainesville, Florida, on Sunday, December 10. Funeral rites were held and burial made in Newberry, Florida, where Mrs. Norfleet had formerly lived, Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Mrs. Norfleet’s death marks the passing of the last of an interesting and prominent family of six sons and two daughters, children of the late George Camp and Mrs. Sallie Cutchins Camp of this town, parents of the men who have done more than any others for the growth and development of Franklin. These children were: John S. Camp, Mrs. Mary Eliza Williams, W.N. Camp, P.D. Camp, Dr. B.F. Camp and Mrs. Norfleet (and two) who were twins, R.J. Camp and J.L. Camp. Mrs. Virginia S. Norfleet was born at the old Camp homestead in the Franklin community June 20, 1850. She was married to Nat Norfleet of Nansemond County who died many years ago, and is survived by the following children: Judson Norfleet of Newberry, Fla., D.O. Norfleet of Bradentown, Fla., and J.H. Norfleet of Gainesville, Fla., with whom she made her home. Her oldest son, Percy Norfleet of Jetersville, Va., died a few months ago, and another son, Frank Norfleet, died at his home in Florida several years ago. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, some great-grandchildren and a large family connection here and in Florida. She was a consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church with which she became affiliated in childhood, and made her home in this town for many years until she moved to Florida about 15 years ago. She was an admirable woman of an affirmative personality numbering a wide circle of friends here.
