All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILSON NORFLEET WILSON NORFLEET, 64, RETIRED EXECUTIVE LYNCHBURG - Wilson Norfleet, 64, retired assistant treasurer of Imperial Reading Co., died Thursday in a hospital. He was a son of Herbert Lee and Mrs. Elizabeth Atkinson Norfleet of Franklin and the husband of Mrs. Gwendolyn Weeks Norfleet. He attended the University of the South at Sewanee, Tenn., and the University of Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. He spent the earlier part of his life in Havana, Cuba, where his father was in business after the Spanish-American War. He lived in Baltimore before moving to Lynchburg about 15 years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Miss Nancy Scott Norfleet of New York and Mrs. Robert C. Brickhouse of Richmond; and a sister, Mrs. William Watson Caswell Jr. of Charleston, S.C. A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Diugid Funeral Chapel. Another funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Poplar Spring cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. Robert E. Davis. ****************************************************************************** WILSON NORFLEET LYNCHBURG - A funeral service for Wilson Norfleet was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Diugid Funeral Chapel, Lynchburg. A graveside service was conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. Robert E. Davis, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. W.J.M. Holland & Sons funeral directors was in charge. Norfleet, 64, died in a Lynchburg hospital Thursday afternoon, Sept. 25 following a heart attack three weeks ago. A native of Franklin, he was a son of Herbert Lee Norfleet and Mrs. Elizabeth Atkinson Norfleet and the husband of Mrs. Gwendolyn Weeks Norfleet. He spent his early years in Havana, Cuba and lived in Baltimore, Md., before coming to Lynchburg some 15 years ago. He attended the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., the University of Pennsylvania and was a graduate of Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, Md. Until his recent retirement, he was assistant-treasurer of Imperial Reading Company, Lynchburg. He was an Episcopalian. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Miss Nancy Scott Norfleet of New York City and Mrs. Robert C. Brickhouse of Richmond and a sister, Mrs. William Watson Caswell Jr. of Charleston, S.C.
