William Harris* Northrop, Jr., aged 44, and the husband of the former Miss Velda Conwell, a native of Franklin**, died of a heart attack on the streets of Charlotte, N.C., last Friday morning about noon. Mr. Northrop was head of the accounting department of the American Trust Company in Charlotte, having joined the staff of that institution in 1924, and was held in high esteem by his co-workers. He was a veteran of World War I. Besides his wife, Mr. Northrop is survived by twin daughters, Ann and Susan, aged 12, and a son, William Harris Northrop, 3rd, aged two and a half; his mother, Mrs. W.H. Northrop, all of Charlotte; two brothers, Sam Northrop of Greenville, N.C., and Robert Northrop, U.S. Naval Reserve; two sisters, Mrs. H.G. Kletzien, Milwaukee, Wis., and Miss Sophie Northrop of Wilmington, N.C. Services were conducted Saturday in Charlotte, and burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery here Monday morning at 11 o’clock, the rites being conducted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Pallbearers were Roy T. Matthews, Kenneth M. Pillow, Herbert Edwards, Franklin Whitfield, Tony Cobb, Linwood Edwards, Willie Weede and J.J. Pace.
