ERNEST CORNELIUS NURNEY 

   Funeral services for Ernest Cornelius Nurney, 67, of the Courtland 
community, who died Tuesday afternoon, November 19, in Raiford Memorial 
Hospital, were held last Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of 
the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, Rev. O.L. Gochenour, pastor of 
the Newsoms Baptist Church, officiated.

   Mr. Nurney was the husband of Mrs. Clarine Bryant Nurney. He was a 
native of Hertford County, N.C., moving to the Courtland community about 
45 years ago.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ashby Nurney and Lloyd 
Nurney, both of Courtland; two daughters, Mrs. John Smith of Richmond and 
Mrs. Tony Rains of New York City; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Waverly 
Nurney and L.C. Nurney, both of Courtland, and Wallace Nurney of Capron; 
and one sister, Mrs. Mae Vincent of Seaboard, N.C.

   Burial was in the Newsoms Cemetery.  Active pallbearers were Gillette 
Bryant, Clyde Vincent, Pete Ballard, Harry Bryant, Stephen Bryant, and 
W.R. Bryant, all nephews of the deceased.
