All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM HENRY NURNEY William Henry Nurney, 32, a farmer of the Capron community, died in the Medical College Hospital, Richmond, early Tuesday morning, October 7, after an illness of some months. Mr. Nurney was the husband of Mrs. Helen Newsome Nurney of Capron, and the son of William Waverly Nurney, also of Capron. He was a member of the Newsoms Methodist Church, the Courtland Ruritan Club and the Davis Hunt Club. During World War II he served in the Merchant Marine. In addition to his wife and parents Mr. Nurney is survived by two daughters, Linda Elaine and Patricia K. Nurney, and a son, William Henry Nurney, Jr., all of Capron; and four sisters, Mrs. Gillette Bryant, Mrs. Leslie Whitehead, Mrs. R.A. Ballard and Mrs. Joe Majette, all of Courtland. Final rites were held at the grave in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Revs. R. B. Moore of Newsoms, John W. Morrison of Urbanna and N.B. Habel of Boykins officiating. Acting as pallbearers were L.A. Clements, James Futrell, Frank Marks, Ashby Nurney, James O’Berry, Eppa Prince, Churchill G. Ridley and Wallace White.
