WILLIAM THOMAS O達ERRY

   NEWSOMS - William Thomas O達erry Sr., 80, died Friday afternoon in his home.

   A native of Southampton County, he was a son of William Henry and Mrs. 
Louisa Glover O達erry and the husband of Mrs. Virginia Drake O達erry.  He was 
a retired lumberman and farmer.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Austin of 
Four Oaks, N.C., Mrs. Lydia Soler of Wendell, N.C., and Mrs. Elizabeth Carter 
of Newsoms; three sons, W.T. O達erry, Jr., E.R. O達erry, and J.F. O達erry of 
Newsoms; a stepson, Harold Drake of Newsoms; three sisters, Mrs. Selicia 
Whitley and Mrs. Laura Glover of Franklin and Mrs. Carrie Ward of Portsmouth; 
14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

   A funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Newsoms Cemetery by the Rev. 
Robert E. Abbott of Newsoms Methodist Church and the Rev. C. Allen Lawrence of 
Newsoms Baptist Church.  McDowell Funeral Home, Boykins was in charge.

   Pallbearers were J.T. Worrell, Fred Worrell, W.T. Drake, Eppa Prince, J.W. 
Drake, George Cook Jr., Robert O達erry and Russell Drake.
