Mrs. Overby had been an invalid for a number of years, bearing her suffering with patience and Christian fortitude. She was a member of Courtland Methodist Church, moving her membership from Branchville when she came to this community about ten years ago. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Overby of Branchville, Mrs. Stafford Blythe of Franklin, Mrs. Hattie Sue Fuller of Richmond, Mrs. Alice Cutchin and Miss Cornelia Overby of Courtland; five sons, George Overby of Courtland, Dudley Overby of Boykins, Edward Overby of Norfolk, Joe and Paul Overby of Richmond; 11 grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were conducted at the grave Sunday, June 1, at 3 o'clock in Riverside Cemetery by her pastor, Rev. W.W. Beasley, assisted by Rev. John Isom of the Baptist Church. The hymns, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung during the service. There were many floral tributes and a large gathering of relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Roger and Ray Fuller, Larry, Eddie, Robert, Leon and Wallace Overby.
