OWEN BURIED WEDNESDAY SEDLEY - Mrs. Mary Virginia Councill Owen, 58, a well-known resident and retired postmistress, died at her home Monday night after an illness of many months. She was the wife of Russell Wright Owen and the daughter of the late John R. and Annie Lee Councill of Southampton County. She was a member of the Grace Memorial Methodist Church and had been very active in all church work prior to her illness. Surviving besides her husband are one daughter, Miss Barbara Ann Owen of Richmond; one sister, Mrs. Paul Dyal of New York City; a stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Councill of Chase City, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Holland Funeral Chapel, Franklin, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. E. Stephen Babcock, pastor of the Grace Memorial Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Pallbearers were Kenneth Howell, Harry E. Jones, L.E. Bailey, Samuel Turner, Hubert Beale, Jr., Emmett Davis, Frank Davis and Robert J. Hotchkiss.
