Ben Duffy. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, with W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home in charge. A native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and a former resident of Norfolk, he was the husband of Mrs. Shirley Foiles Owens and a son of Richard E. and Mrs. Louise Sebly Owens. He was the assistant to the president and vice chairman of the board of the Franklin Equipment Company. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, a former vestryman, a member of the Franklin Ruritan Club and the Franklin Rotary Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Miss Cherylee Owens of Franklin, Mrs. Donald L. Whittington of Charles Town, W.Va. and three sons, Richard Ernest Owens Jr., Stephenson Lee Owens, and Timothy Foiles Owens, all of Franklin; three sisters, Mrs. Vance B. Carhart of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Linwood Guess of Norfolk and Mrs. Charles Graves of Newport News; one brother, Francis Selby Owens of Norfolk and one grandchild.
