All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ADELAIDE ANTOINETTE POPE Miss Adelaide Antoinette Pope, aged 85, died May 28 at the home of her sister, Mrs. B.F. Bryant, near Newsoms. She was the daughter of the late Elisha and Martha Jane Pope of this county. Besides her sister, Mrs. Bryant, she is survived by four nieces, Mrs. W.H. Baugham and Mrs. T.W. Story of Capron, Mrs. Lelia B. Knight of Courtland and Miss Eunice Bryant of Newsoms; two nephews, Herbert Bryant of Suffolk, Howard Bryant of Courtland. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, May 30, at the home of Mrs. Bryant, conducted by the Rev. C.V. Morris of Capron and Rev. W.W. Beasley of Courtland. Her favorite hymn, "Rock of Ages," was used during the services. Mrs. R.A. Ballard and Miss Gladys Nurney sang "The Old Rugged Cross." The casket was covered with a pall of red rose buds and there were many other beautiful floral tributes. Burial was in the family cemetery near Newsoms. Active pallbearers were Felton Bryant, Olie Baugham, Will Story, Robert Baugham, Ashby Pope and Bob Pope.
