All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ADDIE STEVENS POPE Mrs. Addie Stevens Pope, aged 85 years, resident of Courtland for the past eleven years, died at the home of her daughter, Miss Jennie Belle Pope of Courtland, on Friday night, June 10, after suffering a heart attack. Mrs. Pope was the daughter of the late Henry and Jennie Higgins Stevens of Southampton County and widow of Henry Pope of Capron. She was a member of the Capron Baptist Church. Besides her daughter she is survived by three sons, David L. Pope of Capron, W.G. Pope of Newsoms, and G.P. Pope of Boykins; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock in the Capron Baptist Church by Rev. H.B. Jennings, Rev. L.M. Kanipe and Rev. R.H. Marks. Interment was in the Capron cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: J.Q. Worrell, R.L. Hancock, Jr., Herman Jarratt, L.R. Magee, P.A. Pope, Moncure Francis, W.H. Story and R.L. Banty.
