A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Simon T. and Mrs. Betty Howell Pope of Southampton County. He was a member of Newsome Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Bryant Pope, and two brothers, L. Hudson Pope of Rawlings and Guy L. Pope of Franklin. Funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m.at W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. B.W. Coe of Newsoms Methodist Church. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers were George Prince, Harry Fowler, James Porter, Jack Bunn, Jesse Drewry, Will H. Story, Joe Miller and Fletcher Hand.
