He was the husband of Mrs. Emma Daniels Pope and a son of Littleton and Mrs. Liza Story Pope. Mr. Pope was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Southampton County. He was a member of the Capron Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World. In addition to his widow, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. C.L. Thompson, Mrs. R.L. Banty and Mrs. J.T. Griffin of Capron, and Mrs. Frank P. Whitehurst of Portsmouth; and four sons, P.A. Pope and B.H. Pope of Capron, T.E. Pope of Richmond, and J.N. Pope of Portsmouth. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in the H.M. Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins, by Rev. J.S. Peebles, pastor of the Capron Methodist Church. Burial was in Capron Cemetery.
