PATTIE SUE EDWARDS HOWELL POPE 

   Mrs. Pattie Sue Pope died December 30, 1927, in her twenty-eighth* year 
after an illness of about twelve months.  Mrs. Pope was born near Como and 
lived there until six years ago she moved to Newsoms.  She was first married 
to Herbert Howell of Como and six years ago she was married to Willie G. Pope 
of this community.

   Mrs. Pope was a consistent member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.  She is 
survived by her husband and four children, besides many relatives and friends.

   The funeral services were held at the home by Dr. G.H. Oliver, assisted by 
Rev. R.H. Marks.  Interment was made in the Newsoms cemetery.

Pattie 1m. 10 Oct 1913 Jas. Herbert HOWELL, in Maney's Neck, Hertford Co., NC. 
   They div. 18 Jul 1921 in Southampton Co.  The div.cert. gives Pattie Sue, 
   age 16, & James Herbert, age 19, but that must be given ages at marriage, 
   8 years ago.  (State File No. 21-001931) 

She appears 12 Jan 1920 in the Census, age 23, boarding with James D. PARKER & 
   his wife Martha J. (South Kirby Twp, Northampton Co., NC). 
   Pattie & a widowed J.D. were issued a m.lic. 20 Dec 1920 in Northampton, 
   but it was not used. 

She 2m. 22 Jan 1922 widower Willie G. POPE, in Newsoms (So.Co. MB18:497).

Pattie's D.Cert. (28272 {Newsoms #38}) gives age 32, dt/o John Edwards & 
   Mattie Reed. {wrong!} 

Her parents were "Jim" James William EDWARDS & "Mattie" Martha Elizabeth 
   (REAMS) EDWARDS, dt/o John & Sue (VICK) REAMS of Northampton Co., NC. 
   They are buried in Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery, Como, Hertford Co., NC.

They appear in the 1900 Census in Maney's Neck, Hertford Co., NC - 
   "Nattie S.," b. Apr 1897.
