All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIE HALEY POPE Willie Haley Pope, 71, husband of Mrs. Rena Taylor Pope, died Wednesday morning, November 13, at his home in Boykins after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Samuel Henry and Mrs. Fanny Vick Pope. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Boykins Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Doris Nelms of Suffolk, Mrs. Creathie Taylor Of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. and Mrs. Inez Barnes and Mrs. Louise Felts, both of Boykins; two brothers, Charlie Pope of Capron and Johnnie Pope of Carrsville; one sister, Mrs. Addie Stephenson of Capron; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at the Purviance Funeral Home by Rev. William Ferguson, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church, and Rev. Ben Ussery, Pastor of the Boykins Baptist Church. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
