Robert D. Fridley of High Street United Methodist Church. W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home will be in charge. Pallbearers will be Glen Lanier, W.R. Atkinson Jr., Hap Purnell, Bill Davis, W.N. Rose, Russell Cotton, Maxie Day and Edward Gilliam. Pace, 69, a hardware merchant, died Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Franklin, he was a son of William Thomas Pace and Mrs. Meta Parker Pace and the husband of Adelaide Bradshaw Pace. A 1922 graduate of Virginia Military Institute, he operated W.T. Pace Hardware Co. many years. He was past worshipful master of Queen City Masonic 602, Rocky Mount, a member of High Street United Methodist Church and a former Sunday school superintendent. Besides his widow, surviving are two sons, H. Leigh Pace Jr. and Roy Carter Pace of Newport News; two daughters, Mrs. Janet P. Gladstone of Skaneateles, N.Y., and Mrs. Sue P. Bass of Portsmouth; two sisters, Miss Lelia Pace and Mrs. Louise P. Mathews of Franklin; three brothers, W.T. Pace Jr. and John James Pace of Franklin and Emmett H. Pace of Wheeling, W.Va., and Hollywood, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
