Pace of this town, died suddenly at her home here Tuesday night, May 24, at about 11:45 o’clock. She had been in declining health for some months, but the end came almost unexpectedly with a heart attack. The deceased was 56 years of age. Mrs. Pace was Miss Meta Goodman Parker, the daughter of the late Goodman D. Parker and Caroline S. Parker of Murfreesboro, N.C. She was married March 28, 1888, and since the date of her marriage had been a resident of this town. Few women of Franklin were better know or more universally liked than she. Her life radiated sunshine, generosity and neighborliness. In her home life she might well be compared to that beautiful character of whom Solomon wrote, "Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her". As helpmate and mother and as the mistress of a happy and well-ordered home, her life had been unselfishly spent for the happiness and comfort of her family. She was a faithful and consistent Christian, a loyal communicant of the M.E. Church and a useful member of the woman’s organizations of the local church. Besides her husband she is survived by seven children, Miss Lelia P. Pace, W.T., Jr., and J.J. Pace of Franklin; Frank S. Pace of Norfolk, H. Leigh Pace, a student at V.M.I., Lexington; Miss M. Louise Pace, who attends the Randolph- Macon Woman’s College, Lynchburg, and Emmett H. Pace of Franklin. The funeral services were conducted from the residence in Second avenue Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by her pastor, Rev. J.A. Chapman, of High Street M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. R.M. Chandler of Portsmouth, Rev. W.L. Burks of McKenny, Va., and Dr. C.H. Rowland of the Franklin Christian Church. Interment following in the family plot at Poplar Spring Cemetery where a large concourse of friends were present to pay the last tribute of love and affection to their friend and neighbor. The active pallbearers were General C.C. Vaughan, E. Frank Story, S.R. Nicholson, J.A. Jackson, E.T. FitzGerald, Dr. W.E. Snipes, J.B. Gay, Geo. R. Hayes; honorary, A.L. Gardner, Dr. W.H.
