Poates, 82, of Courtland Va., died Monday in Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Caroline County and the wife of the late O.H. Poates. She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Calvin O. Poates of Courtland and Francis W. Poates of Tamworth, Va.; a sister, Margaret S. Wilson of Pulaski, Va.; one grandson, D. Wayne Poates. Graveside funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland by the Rev. Edmund Ellis. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Courtland Rescue Squad or Courtland Fire Department. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin has charge of arrangements. Louise (FRAUGHNAUGH; Mrs. Orie H.)
