W.L. Alford. Burial was in Ivor Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Owen, William Cook, W.R. Clark Jr., Elbert E. Cutright, Ashby Brantley Jr., Robert Harrup, Amos Cutright and Vernon Crumpler. Peden, 23, died in his home at 863 Windsor Road Tuesday night of a self- inflicted bullet wound, the Nansemond County Sheriff’s Department has reported. A native of Southampton County, he was a son of Archie W. and Mrs. Lucille Ritter Peden of Ivor. He worked for Lipton Tea Co. and was a member of Millfield Baptist Church. Besides his parents, surviving are his widow, Mrs. Carolyn Blythe Peden; three brothers, Archie W. Peden Jr., of Waverly, Willard L. Peden of Courtland, and Roger Dean Peden of Ivor; and a sister, Mrs. W.R. Clark Jr. of Ivor.
