Peden, 82, of Ivor, died Oct. 11, 2000, in Suffolk. Born Nov. 18, 1917, in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Grover Ritter and Mamie H. Ritter. She was a member of Millfield Baptist Church, where she worked faithfully for many years cleaning the church. She was the loving wife of Archer W. Peden and worked beside him on the farm. Mrs. Peden is also survived by a daughter, Della Mae Clark; three sons, Archer "Bean" W. Peden Jr. and his wife, Annie, Willard L. Peden and his wife, Iris, and Roger Dean Peden and his wife, Betty; eight grandchildren, John, Amelia, James, Tracey, Sharon, Kristin, Shirley Mae and Patricia; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lennie Lee Peden; a son, Andrew Lee Peden; and a brother, Robert G. Ritter Jr. A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, by the Rev. Steve McGlamery. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad, Ivor, VA 23866.
