All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CORPORAL HUGH OSBORNE PITTMAN SEDLEY INFANTRYMAN DROWNS IN WISCONSIN Acquaintances and friends of Corporal Hugh Pittman, son of Walter R. and Mrs. Maude Wood Pittman of Sedley, will be distressed to learn of his death by drowning last Sunday night at Lake Delton Beach, Wisconsin. Corporal Pittman, who was twenty years old, was member of an infantry regiment stationed at nearby Camp McCoy. His body was recovered a short while after the drowning. Arriving in Franklin this (Friday) afternoon, the body will be taken to the Holland Funeral Home, where it will lie in state until Saturday morning. From there it will be taken to the home of Corporal Pittman's aunt, Mrs. W.T. Pittman, in Courtland. Funeral services will be held from the home of Mrs. Pittman in Courtland Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Pittman of Sedley; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Terrell and Miss Josephine Pittman of Richmond and Mrs. Margaret Baker of Florida; and five brothers, Elmo Pittman, Sedley, Capt. Clarence Pittman, Camp Davis, N.C., Lieut. John Irvin Pittman, AUS, New York City, Pfc. Cedric Pittman, USN, stationed in the Southwest Pacific, and E.H. Pittman, Buffalo, N.Y.
