MAUDE WOOD PITTMAN

   Mrs. Maude Wood Pittman, wife of Walter R. Pittman of Courtland, died in 
the home of her sister, Mrs. Ruth Pittman of Courtland, on Saturday, June 7, 
after an illness which extended over a period of seven years.  At the time 
of her death she was sixty-nine years old.

   Mrs. Pittman, the daughter of the late William B. and Mrs. Nora Betty Wood 
of Petersburg, was a member of old Trinity Methodist Church, near Sedley.

   Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons, Elmo Pittman of 
Courtland, Irvin Pittman of New York, Cedric Pittman of Courtland, Clarence 
Pittman of Franklin, and Harold Pittman of Richmond; three daughter, Mrs. Guy 
Terrell of Richmond, Miss Josephine Pittman of Richmond, and Mrs. Margaret 
Baker of Williamsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Pittman of Courtland and Mrs. E. 
Wear of Washington; two brothers, John Wood of Petersburg and Cedric Wood of 
Washington; and four grandchildren.

   Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Pittman in Courtland 
on Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock with the Rev. Percy White officiating. 
Interment was in the Courtland cemetery.  The active pallbearers were Millard 
Williams, Guy Terrell, Leon Pittman, Billy Rollinson, Sam Shiller, Stafford 
Camp, Bill Bass, and Walter W. Cobb.
