Peters, Sr., died at her home in North High Street Monday morning in her 70th year after a lingering illness. Mrs. Peters was a native of Surry County, Va., the daughter of the late Patrick Henry and Mrs. Sarah Atkins* Emory, and was married to Mr. Peters in 1889**. They moved to Franklin in July 1890, where they have since lived, Mrs. Peters being known and esteemed by a large circle of friends as a quiet, unassuming Christian woman of many fine traits of character. She was a consistent member of the Franklin Christian Church, and lived a life of consistent devotion to her husband and children, an ideal wife and mother, largely concerned with home-making and friendliness to those about her. She is survived by her husband and five children: Richard A. Peters, Jr. of Slater, S.C., Patrick Henry Peters of Richmond, Shelton Peters of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Lorene Peters Beale and Miss Blanche Emory Peters of Franklin; two brothers, Major S.H. Emory, U.S.A., of Aberdeen, Md., and J.A. Emory of Petersburg; a sister, Mrs. R.L. Hancock of Newport News; two granddaughters, Constance and Emory Ann Peters, and a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock by her Pastor, Rev. Dr. Elwood W. Jones of the local Christian Church, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson and Rev. A. McK. Reynolds. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery here, the active pallbearers being: Cecil Vaughan, 3rd, David Lawrence, J.P. King, Roger I. Beale, Geo. H. Parker, W.M. Bradshaw, W.E. Smith, and J.A. Weede, the honorary bearers being selected from a large list of friends of the family. Laura A. (EMORY; Mrs. Richard A.
