She was the widow of John Eure Peterson, who died in October, 1954, and the daughter of the late James B. and Gattie Hedgepeth Worrell of Southampton County. She had been a member of the South Quay Baptist Church since childhood. She is survived by two daughter Mrs. Gattie P. Guyton of Richmond and Mrs. Virginia Sullivan of South Norfolk; three sons William Peterson of Franklin, Wallace Peterson, USN, of Long Beach, Calif, and E. Lee Peterson of Greensboro, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and two sisters [...*] of Franklin and Mrs. Jake Norwood of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. Funeral services for Mrs. Peterson were held in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Harvey L. Carnes, pastor of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, and Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Poplar Spring cemetery, the pallbearers being John A. Beaton, Jr., John R. Cornwell, Virgil Derby, Harry Hassett, Ryland Hasty, W.R. Johnson, Jr., Oscar Joyner and J. Richard Lawrence.
