Kindred Powell and Julia Woodard Powell, died suddenly at the home in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. on Thursday, March 15, at 6 o'clock p.m. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, Kindred; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Powell of Boykins; his paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Moseley of Brunswick County; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Woodard, of Conway, N.C. The infant was brought to the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins, where it remained until the hour of the funeral. Graveside services were held on Friday afternoon, March 16, at 3:30 at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, with Rev. Marshall W. Anderson officiating. John Rollison of Courtland sang "The Lord's Prayer" during the service. The pallbearers were W. Hugh Powell, Jr., and Jackson M. Powell of Boykins. The little white casket was covered by a white net blanket with pink rosebuds and white hyacinths. The grave was entirely covered with many attractive miniature floral designs.
