Pillow of Franklin died suddenly early Wednesday morning, July 18, at her residence of Clay Street after suffering a heart attack. Mrs. Pillow was a member of one of Franklin’s oldest families, the daughter of the late Mills E. and Josie Pruden Lawrence, having received her education at the Franklin Female Seminary. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and the Woman’s Missionary Society. Surviving her are four sisters, Mrs. Josie L. Sykes, Miss L. Virginia Lawrence and Miss Doris C. Lawrence, all of Franklin, and Mrs. Elizabeth L. Jackley of Chicago; three brothers, Charlie O. Lawrence, Sr., of Norfolk, J. Richard and David T. Lawrence, Sr., of Franklin; two nieces and six nephews; three step-sons George Ellis Pillow of Franklin, Kenneth M. Pillow of Newport News and Davis D. Pillow of Florida; two step-daughters, Mrs. H.B. Long of Hamlet, N.C., and Mrs. George W. Stowe, of Belmont, N.C. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be made in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mildred Louise (LAWRENCE; Mrs. George W.)
