PULLEY Lloyd C. Pulley, long a prominent citizen of Ivor, died at his home there early Sunday morning from a heart attack. Although he had been in failing health for some time, and had sustained an attack at the Ivor post office about two weeks ago, his sudden death was unexpected. Mr. Pulley was 58. The son of the late Frank P. Pulley and Cora Stephenson Pulley, he was a native of Southampton County. Receiving training at Windsor Academy, a noted school of its time, he later took a business course and early in life assumed the duties and obligations of citizenship. Postmaster of Ivor at the time of his death, Mr. Pulley had been mayor of Ivor for more than 25 years, serving in that capacity up until his appointment to the post office, which took effect March 18, 1936. He had also served on the Equalization Board of the county and on the Southampton County Democratic Executive Committee. Mr. Pulley was a member of the Masonic and Woodmen fraternal orders, having been a District Deputy Grand Master in the former order. Affiliating at an early age with the Millfield Baptist Church, he later transferred membership to the Ivor Baptist Church when that congregation erected a building. He had been superintendent of the Ivor Baptist Sunday school and teacher of its Men's Bible Class. He was a deacon of the church at the time of his death. Besides his wife, Mrs. Rose Bradshaw Pulley, he is survived by the following children; five daughters - Mrs. J.R. Broocke of Boykins, Mrs. Ashby Brantley of Ivor, and Misses Tiny, Anna Belle and Carolyn Pulley of Ivor; six sons - Lloyd C., Jr. of Gloucester, Bradshaw Pulley of Toledo, O., Franklin Pulley, a student of William and Mary College, and Marsden, David and Reid Pulley of Ivor.
