MARGARET EDWARDS POWELL

   FRANKLIN - A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Margaret Edwards Powell was 
conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery, by Rev. Robert D. 
Fridley of High Street United Methodist Church.  Peninsula Funeral Home, 
Newport News, was in charge.

   Mrs. Powell of Franklin died Thursday at 9 a.m. in a hospital after a long 
illness.

   A native of Isle of Wight County, she was the widow of Dr. Jordan B. Powell 
Sr.

   She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, Franklin.

   Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Edwards Duell of Norfolk and Mrs. 
Stella Edwards Porter of Newport News; a brother, Joel T. Edwards of Syracuse, 
N.Y.; and a granddaughter.
