Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr. Burial was in Black Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alvin Hatfield, Edwin Joyner, T.J. Blythe, Miles Carr, Cadmus Stephenson and Robert Lowe. A native of Southampton County, Pond was the husband of Mrs. Louise Barlow Pond and a son of James Thomas and Mrs. Hannah Elizabeth Joyner Pond. He was a member of Burdette Baptist Church where he was a deacon; Black Creek-Burdette Ruritan Club; Woodman; Walters Lodge; and the Maccabees. He was retired from the Maintaince Department of Ford Motor Company. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, J.T. Pond Jr. of Newport News; one sister, Mrs. Irene Pond Barlow and two grandchildren.
