Mrs. Nannie A. Pond died yesterday afternoon at 3:35 o'clock, at the residence of her son, No. 1210 West Cary Street. Deceased was seventy-two years of age and a native of Southampton county, Va., where many relatives and friends mourn their loss. She is survived by five sons - James H., William C., Charles W., and Robert E. Pond, all of Richmond, and John W. Pond, of Roanoke, Va. In the death of Mrs. Pond Virginia loses another from the nearly decimated ranks of noble Confederate women. She was the widow of James A. Pond, of "Mahone's old brigade." When the roar of artillery and the rattle of musketry terrified the devoted hearts of wives and mothers of 1861-1865 at old Petersburg duty found her at the bedside of wounded soldiers, struck down at their very threshold in defence of principles they were taught to revere. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a constant friend and consistent Christian. The funeral arrangements have not been made, but the body will be taken to Petersburg for interment in Blandford Cemetery. [...] DEATHS.
