WILLIAM LEWIS POND A funeral service for Dr. William L. Pond, 50, of Miami, Fla. was held Thursday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were R.E. Sandlin, R.J. Hotchkiss, M.R. Day, J. Vaughan Beale, Joe King and Marion Whitfield. A researcher, he formerly was employed by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. A native of Franklin, Va., he was the husband of Mrs. Jean Pond and a son of the late Charles E. and Mrs. Jose B. Pond. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marianne P. Caupin of Jacksonville; a son, Jonathan Pond of Miami; a sister, Mrs. Bertie Guckert of Reedsville, Va.; and two brothers, Navy Capt. Charles E. Pond of Kilmarnock, Va., and Prof. Robert B. Pond of Westminster, Md.
