MATTIE MARTIN PANTON

   A funeral service for Mrs. Mattie Martin Panton was conducted Monday at 3 
p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert D. Fridley. 
Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were Elle Bailey, G. Hinson Parker Jr., W.H. Hart Jr., William 
B. Hastings, J. Edward Moyler and Vernard Scott.

   Mrs. Panton, 96, died Saturday afternoon in Lakeside Nursing Home, Suffolk.

   A native of Milwaukee, N.C., she was a daughter of Henry T. and Mrs. Sallie 
Martin and the widow of William Panton.

   She is survived by two sons, Glenn Panton of Richmond and John H. Panton of 
Franklin; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
