Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. R.E. Brittle. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Bob Hartman, Rochelle Fowler, David Toler, David F. Fowler, Alfred Keesee, Melton Cobb and Raymond Bess. Mrs. Powers, 70, died Friday morning in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. A native of Southampton county, she was the wife of Floyd S. Powers and a daughter of Eddie and Mrs. Anna Denson Scott. She was a member of Sedley United Methodist Church. Besides her husband, surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Rochelle Fowler of Carrsville, Mrs. Alfred Keesee of Chesapeake, and Mrs. Shirley Hurtle of Norfolk; three sons, Ryland E. Powers of Carrsville, Floyd E. of Courtland, and Robert J. Powers of Newport News; a sister, Mrs. Hugh Alley, and a brother, R.L. Scott both of Hopewell; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
