BETTIE N. PERSON After months and weeks of suffering from which she could get no relief, Mrs. Bettie Norman Person, wife of the late W.B. Person, died at her home here Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, in her 66th year. The remains were taken to Person's M.E. Church Monday afternoon and interment was made at 3 o'clock in the family section of that historic old church yard. Her pastor, Rev. Porter Hardy, conducted the burial services and the pallbearers were Hon. E. Frank Story of Franklin, W.H. Rush of Branchville, E. R. Bryant, Geo. A. Powell, B. F. Britt, A.L. Knight, T.H. Porter and Walter H. Britt, all of Boykins. The mound was covered with numerous and handsome floral designs. Mrs. Person was the daughter of the late J.W. and Frances N. Claud, and had spent her entire life in this, her native county, where she was well known and greatly beloved by a large circle of relatives and friends. In early life she became a Christian and united with the church at Person's where she took an active part in all the interests of the community until she moved to Boykins to make her home six years ago. It was during these last six years that the Boykins people have known her best. Moving her membership to the Boykins church, she became identified with all the activities of the church and was always in her place until failing strength took her away. For a long time, she taught the ladies' Bible class in the Sunday school, and at the time of her death she was president of the Woman's Missionary Society. She will be greatly missed in the whole community. She is survived by six children; Mrs. W.L. Bryant and Mrs. J.T. Turner of the Person's community, Mrs. J.R. Daughtrey of Norfolk, Mrs. E.M. Harris of Branchville, Jno. R. and Pat. T. Person, both of Boykins; and nine grand- children. [Elizabeth Norman "Bettie" (CLAUD; Mrs. W.B.) PERSON, 23 Feb 1919, age 66, interred in Person's M.E.
