All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ANNA FROST TAYLOR PARKER Mrs. Anna Taylor Parker, 54, wife of George Hinson Parker, Sr., died at her Clay Street residence on Saturday afternoon, March 8, after a long illness. Born in Rock Island, Ill., in 1897, she was the daughter of the late Frank D. and Anna Wilcox Taylor. In 1907 she moved with her parents to Ivor, where she lived until the time of her marriage. She attended Randolph-Macon Institute in Danville, and was graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg. Mrs. Parker was active in civic and church affairs. She was a member of the Franklin Book Club, and a charter member of the past president of the Franklin Garden Club. She was also the first president of the Hermitage Guild, the women’s auxiliary of the Methodist Home for the Aged in Richmond. Just a week before her death she was elected president emeritus of the organization. Besides her husband Mrs. Parker is survived by two stepchildren, Mrs. Frances Parker Bradford and George Hinson Parker, Jr., both of Franklin; three grandchildren, Kenneth Bradford, Jr., George Hinson Parker, 3d, and Westbrook J. Parker, also of Franklin; two brothers, Richard W. Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz., and Robert F. Taylor of Stevenson, Ala.; and a nephew, Richard W. Taylor, Jr., and a niece, Mrs. Robert E. Stiros, both of Phoenix. Funeral services for Mrs. Parker were held at the home on Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with Rev. Elmer N. Hassell, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, and Rev. Roscoe Jones, D.D., of Stony Creek, a former pastor, officiating. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Robert E. Coggsdale, Charles E. Morgan, Walter H. Norfleet, Jr., Robert F. Phillips, G.E. Pillow, W. Eldridge Smith and Dr. W.E. Snipes, Jr., all of Franklin, and S.F. Winiker of Danville.
