All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ANTOINETTE ALLEN PARKER Graveside services for Miss Antoinette Allen Parker of the Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville, were held Sunday, March 5 at 2 p.m. at Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin by the Rev. Robert Fridley. Pallbearers were S.F. Winiker Jr., Walter H. Norfleet Jr., J. Kenneth Bradford Jr., George H. Parker, Jr., Joe B. Gay III and Westbrook J. Parker. Born February 13, 1902 in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Walter Greenhow Parker and Mrs. Antoinette Alice Gay Parker. She was educated in the Franklin public schools, received her B.S. degree at Longwood College and her M.S. degree at the University of Virginia. Miss Parker taught English in the schools of Southampton County until 1931 when she went to Danville to teach at George Washington High School. She taught at Averett College from 1947 until her retirement in 1967. She was a member of the Danville Branch of the American Association of University Women, the Wednesday Club and Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. She is survived by one sister Mrs. S.F. Winiker of White Stone; one niece Mrs. John McQuiston of Merrimac, N.H.; and one nephew S.F. Winiker Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.
