Parker, 80, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Parker, in Jackson, N.C., on Wednesday afternoon at six o’clock, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Claude Godwin Parker, and the daughter of the late Reuben R. Owens of King George County and Frances Simons Owens of Westmoreland County. Mrs. Parker was for nearly sixty years a resident of Franklin, but had made her home with the daughter since January of this year. She had been a member of the Franklin Baptist Church since 1890. Besides Mrs. Parker she is survived by four other daughter, Mrs. W.W. Cuthrell of Richmond, Mrs. L.H. Babb of Berlin, Miss Jeanette Parker of Enfield, N.C., and Mrs. A.H. Patterson of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Rev. Oscar Lee Owens, D.D., of Oklahoma City, Okla. Funeral services will be held this (Friday) afternoon at three o’clock at the Franklin Baptist Church, with Rev. Randolph Gregory officiating, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MARIETTA OWENS PARKER Funeral services for Mrs. Marietta Owens Parker, 80, were conducted last Friday afternoon at three o’clock at the Baptist Church. Rev. Randolph Gregory, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Burial was in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Parker died Wednesday afternoon, May 12, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. Harvey Parker, of Jackson, N.C. She was the wife of the late Claude G. Parker of Franklin, and daughter of the late Rev. Reuben Owens and Mrs. Frances Simon Owens of Nansemond County. A graduate of the Chowan Baptist Female Institute, Murfreesboro, in 1887, she had been a member of the Franklin Baptist Church since 1890. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. B. Harvey Parker of Jackson, N.C., Mrs. W.W. Cuthrell of Richmond, Mrs. L.H. Babb of Ivor, Mrs. A.H. Patterson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Miss Jeannette Parker of Enfield, N.C.; one brother Rev. Oscar Lee Owens, D.D., of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral of Mrs. Parker were George O. Watkins, Edgar V. Stephenson, Robert O. Hayes, Vance W. Vaughan, Cecil C. Vaughan, 3rd, P. Owens Parker, Clarence Cobb and T.V. Downing. Marietta (OWENS; Mrs. "Claude" G.)
