Parker, formerly of Sebrell, were held at the grave in the Sebrell cemetery Wednesday afternoon, August 26, at 3 o'clock. The pallbearers were: W.B. Forbes, J.C. Britt, I.B. Parker, J.B. Gatlin, Thomas Whitmore, Willie Simmons, G.W. Reese and T.O. Simmons. Mr. Parker died August 25 at the U.S. Marine Hospital, Portsmouth in his 38th year after a long illness. He was for a number of years a resident of Sebrell but had made his home in Ahoskie, N.C., for the past few years. He was a World War veteran with an honorable record. The Rev. Oscar Creech of the Ahoskie Baptist Church of which Mr. Parker was a member, conducted the services. In no more eloquent way could his friends and loved ones have shown their love and esteem for him than by the beautiful floral tributes that covered the grave, and by the large crowd of relatives and friends who stood to pay their last tribute of respect. He is survived by his widow, who was before the marriage, Miss Irma Reese of this county, by three children, Oscar, Jr., Dorothy Reese and Irma May; his mother, Mrs. Mary O. Parker of Ahoskie, and three brothers, J.E. and D.C. Parker of Ahoskie and Rufus Parker of Norfolk.
