Parker Is Buried Friday FRANKLIN - A funeral service for William Edward Parker, who died early Thursday, was conducted at W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home Friday by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr., pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, and the Rev. Donald E. Trump, pastor of Colosse Baptist Church. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Fenton Beale, T.J. Blythe Jr., Robert Lowe, James Hatfield, Jasper Carr and John M. Ballard. ****************************************************************************** WILLIAM EDWARD PARKER FRANKLIN - William Edward Parker, 90, well-known retired carpenter of Burdette community, died at the home of his son, G.L. Parker, early Thursday after brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Martha Howell Parker and son of James H. and Mrs. Martha Ann Griggs Parker [sic*] of Nansemond County. He was a member of the Colosse Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. M.K. Jones of Windsor; three sons, G.L. Parker of Franklin, S.E. Parker of Pennsville, N.J., Lennie B. Parker of Zuni; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard E. Parker of Rising Sun, Md.; and one sister, Mrs. Florence Story of Franklin. Funeral services were held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Holland Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr., pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist church and the Rev. Donald E. Trump, pastor of Colosse Baptist Church. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery, Walters. Pallbearers were John M. Ballard, T.J. Blythe, Jr., Fenton Beale, James Hatfield, Frank Lowe and Jasper Carr. (D.Cert. 1412 {Lovettsville #1}) He m. ca. 1870 Martha (1846-1934); they are buried in Ebenezer Episcopal Church Cemetery, Neersville, Loudoun Co. [no VA D.Cert. found for Martha] Find a Grave Memorial #18938705 gives his father James W. PARKER (1844 - 1909) as buried in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery; Co. B, 43rd AL Infantry, CSA; still living in 1910 Census. It includes a photo - added by Sunshine State - signed James W. PARKER, and a photo of his gravestone - added by Ron Stewart - which shows James E. PARKER (1844 - 1909), Sgt., Co. D, 48th MS Infantry, in Colosse Baptist Church Cemetery. William's son Lennie Bradshaw PARKER's D.Cert. 87-016640 gives son of William Henry PARKER. Lennie is buried in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin - Devotion I, Plot 134.
