All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EDWARD MEREDITH PRIDDY Funeral services for Edward Meredith Priddy were conducted from the Boykins Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon, November 3, at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Frank B. Handley officiated, assisted by Rev. Kenneth E. Burke of Courtland Baptist Church. Mr. Priddy, the son of the late Edward D. and Mrs. Addie B. Priddy of Boykins, died Sunday, October 31, at the home of his sister, Mrs. M.A. Thomas, after a long illness. He was born August 9, 1900, in Norfolk, his family moving to Boykins when he was a small boy. At the age of nine years he joined the Boykins Baptist Church. Mr. Priddy was formerly employed by Chas. W. Priddy and the Pocomoke Fertilizer companies in Norfolk. At the time of his last illness he was laboratory and X-Ray technician at Bonnie Burn Sanatorium, Scotch Plains, N.J., bad health forcing him to give up this work. He is survived by his wife, who before her marriage was Miss Willie Rose Jenkins of Appalachia, Va., his mother, Mrs. Addie B. Priddy of Boykins, and one sister, Mrs. M.A. Thomas of Courtland. The bodybearers were Floyd Joyner of Ivor, A.M. Williams, N.S. Beaton, Franklin Powell, Beverly Gray and John M. Britt of Boykins; honorary, Dr. W.T. McLemore, W.T. Cobb, G.L. Bryant, M.R. Bryant, and C.W. Davis of Courtland, Walter H. Britt, W.T. Edwards, Dr. J.M. Bland, C.T. Beaton, H.G. Coleman, W.F. McKinstry, W.W. White and John Y. Mason. The services were largely attended and the numerous floral designs attested the esteem in which Mr. Priddy was held. Several selections were sung, among them "Face to Face" by Miss Emily Hines and Mrs. Earle Bryant.
