Holland, Sr. of Franklin, were conducted at 1:30 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home in South Norfolk by Rev. S.M. Woodley, pastor of the Laurel Avenue Church of Christ. Mr. Pretlow, 74, a resident of Norfolk for the past 40 years, died early Sunday morning, February 19, in a Norfolk hospital after a short illness. A native and member of a well-known Southampton County family, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Mrs. Maria Louise Rawls Pretlow of Elm Hill plantation, now the Cypress Cove Country Club. Mr. Pretlow was a member of Friends Meetings of Sedley. In addition to his sister, he is survived by one son, John Winfred Pretlow and three grandchildren, John Everett Pretlow, Patricia Elaine Pretlow and Diane Pretlow, all of Norfolk. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Rev. James A. Coney, pastor of Bethel Friends Meeting, conducting the committal service. Pallbearers were J.H. Blanks, R.W. Dunford, Lance Seibert, David Blankford, D.S. Dugger and Fay Mazille.
