  Captain W. H. Pretlow, a well-known lawyer from Southampton county, Va., 
is dead.

  The report of the death of Captain W. H. Pretlow, of Southampton county, 
is unfounded.  Captain Pretlow has been ill for several weeks, but is 
now convalescent.

Additional information: 

Captain William H. Pretlow commanded the Southampton Lee Artillery 
   (Co. A/ 18th Btn Va Hvy Art'y, CSA). 

He stood for election as Delegate from Southampton Co. in Mar 1865.

He does not appear in the Southampton Co. Death Records (1853-1890).
