A native of Hertford, N.C., she was the widow of Benny B. Porter and a daughter of William and Mrs. Nannie Jordan Worrell. She was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church and its Women’s Missionary Society. She is survived by a son, Ralph L. Porter of Newsoms; a sister, Miss Mary Worrell, and three brothers, Wallace M. Worrell, J. Fletcher Worrell and Rufus Worrell, all of Como; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in Newsoms Cemetery. The body will be at W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be: Julian Carter, John Wesley Drake, John Q. Worrell, Raymond Vick, Linwood Pope, Jack Bunn, Luther Porter and Edwin Crowder.
