He was the son of the late Fenton A. Porter and Mrs. E.C. Davis. Besides his mother he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: B.R. Porter of Franklin, Mrs. David Kitchen of Franklin, Pfc. Leslie Porter of the U.S. Army, Mrs. H.F. Babb of Courtland, Mrs. Roger Drake of Franklin, and Ervin Porter of Courtland, also two half-brothers, Bobbie and Raymond Davis of Branchville. The body was brought to the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins, funeral services being held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Newsoms Baptist Church with the Rev. C.P. Cleveland officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bailey Jones. Music was furnished by the combined Newsoms and Branchville choirs. Members of his high school class were flower bearers. Pallbearers were James and Thomas Coggsdale, Howard Simmons, Floyd and Paul Pope, Howard and Ben Babb and Calvin Davis. Burial was in the Newsoms cemetery.
