Porter, died March* 10, 1923, at her home near Handsom, Va., age 47 years. She suffered an attack of influenza in February from which she had not fully recovered when attacked by pneumonia. All that love and medical skill could suggest was of no avail and after two weeks illness God took her away. She will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones, especially at Mt. Horeb Church where she had held her membership since childhood and where she had been organist for twenty years. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Simpson and Harry Lee Porter; her mother, Mrs. Georgette Bishop; a sister, Mrs. J.H. Drake and three brothers, J.F., S.S. and K.R. Bishop, all of Handsom. Funeral was conducted from her home on Wednesday, March* 11, by her Pastor, Rev. H.J. Paylor, interment following in the family burying ground nearby. Etta (BISHOP; Mrs. Berkley A.)
