HARVEY JACOB PORTER SR.

   NEWSOMS - Harvey Jacob Porter Sr., 69, a retired carpenter, died May 29, in 
a Norfolk hospital.

   Mr. Porter, a Southampton County native, retired from Union Camp Corp.  He 
was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Newsoms Baptist Church and 
American Legion Post 276.

    Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson Porter; a daughter, Patsy P. 
Fowler of Newsoms; five sons, Harvey J. Porter, Jr. and Donnie C. Porter, both 
of Newsoms, Kenneth G. Porter of Waterloo, Belgium, and Danny M. Porter of 
Franklin; a brother, B.F Porter of Newsoms; 10 grandchildren; and a great-
grandchild.

   The funeral was conducted Monday in Newsoms Baptist Church by the Rev. 
Kenneth Williams.  Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery.  McDowell Funeral Home, 
Boykins handled arrangements.
